Summer Vacation – 2009

Standard

This summer on My Vacation … well, actually these pictures are from our daughter’s summer vacation, when she brought her two youngest children to visit us on our little acreage in the-middle-of-somewhere! Little Ms. Emily wasn’t so sure about getting in the water, but was soon enjoying herself!

Great-Grama’s Gown

Standard

Our son-in-law, Nathan, was baptised in the same gown as his mother … one made by his grandmother. It is beautifully made and quite a treasure! Tara has faithfully taken photos of all of her babies wearing this gown … a family tradition.

Outshine the sun!

Standard

Today I’m working on another page for our memory book from the trip to Panama Central America in the fall of 2007 (yep…I know…I’m s-l-o-w … not to mention, behind!)

In the page above, I ‘cut’ the word art that came with this kit out of one of the papers that seemed to me to be perfect for my theme as it had the nice rays in it! ┬áThe lower photo frame is recolored (I wanted to keep the color scheme to just yellows and blues) and I strung the little buttons onto the strings that came wrapped around the frames.

My 1st Baby!

Standard

Ms Scarlett got her first baby doll and is really lovin’ her!

Journaling:
At six months old you began to show an interest in dollies so when I saw this doll at the store I thought it would be just perfect for you. She has a soft body, no parts that could come off and choke you (very important right now because you like to put everything in your mouth!)
Once the dollie was home, both you and your sister fell in love iwth her! By the time I got back to the store to get a dollie for Savannah and a couple for back-up-lovies they were all gone.
Fortunately I know how to use eBay! After much searching, I was able to find someone selling exactly what we needed.
Now you have your dollie (the girl with the brown hair) and your big sister has her dollie (the girl with the blonde hair). Most importantly, I have two extras … just in case!

Kit – Island Sampler, Scrapable’s August Store Collab

TECHNIQUES
The collab kit only came with six Alpha blocks (A,B,C,1,2, and 3) so I created the extra blocks needed for the title. I used the recoloring techniques being taught in this month’s Snorkling Lessons to modify the colors of the ribbons (Part 2) as well as changing the little Alpha Blocks (Part 1). You can easily see why just retinting an alpha block wouldn’t work … I need to control each color in the block individually. The recoloring work was a SNAP using these methods.

Princess Dreamer encore

Standard

I recently downloaded some very fun Photoshop Actions from Coffeeshop’s offerings and decided to play with them on the photos Tara had taken of Savannah. I love the antique-look they create!

Here’s the same layout with a different background paper … can’t decide which I like better! What do you think?

Little Princess Dreamer

Standard

One of Savannah’s favorite things to play is “Princess” … of course, it always involves the donning of a pretty and swirlie outfit and then…lots and lots of spinning (unless she has princess shoes on … everyone knows you can’t spin when you are wearing princess shoes!).
