I love fall!

Standard

The sights … all the farming activity (even though it’s been slow-going this fall with all the rainy days), the colors (both in the fields and on our yards!), and the wonderful smells! The smell of fall leaves always transports me back to my elementary school days when we’d play in the yard at our small school – piling up leaves and jumping into the pile, burying each other, having leaf fights … some great memories!

Today, between construction tasks (we are working on some minor remodeling in the main floor bathroom at the farm…nothing too exciting really), I’ve been working on wrapping up some of the pages I started from the photos Tara took while I was out there. It was fun to watch the kids enjoying the little play areas that are unique to the fall season at Underwood Family Farms.

Just ONE of our adorable Punkins!

Standard

How FUN it was to be in California at the start of the fall harvest season this year! Every year the kids take our grandbabies to the Underwood Family Farm’s Pumpkin Patch … this year I got to go along! The older children love everything about that place and run from one fun thing to another. Ms. Scarlett was there for her FIRST pumpkin patch visit! Goodness did we see smiles!!!

She has been working hard to improve her crawling and standing skills … look at her stand there in front of the growth chart (center near the bottom…with all the cute little scarecrows!). She loved the pile of big pumpkins … it’s not so hard standing when there’s a big pumpkin to hang on to!

Baby Wm … at last!

Standard

When this little guy was born life was moving too fast … all the wonderful baby photos have just been piling up and gathering dust. So, tonight I decided to work on a page from his very early days. Oh goodness did we have a challenge with this little one. I think he would have chosen to wait another four weeks before joining the world outside his mommy’s tummy! He was often unconsolable. One night while helping take care of him I was walking the floors, patting and lightly rubbing his little back while he cried and cried. Quite by accident, I discovered that if I whispered very very quietly into his ear he would stop crying. AH HA! Soon Mommy and Daddy were using the tactic as well … much better.

Peace . . .

Well, spending time with the grandchildren means I don’t spend time with my scrapbooking … so, there is quite a gap between my last post and this one! Lots and lots of fun inbetween!

I’ll be back with some layouts from all the fun times we had with the Schield’s babies, but for now, I’m posting two, the first is of William “testing” out a violin at his Aunt Katy’s instrument repair shop in Missouri.

The next layout is of Savannah … modeling a darling little dress and head-dress that she got as part of an exchange her mother participated in. She was even willing to pose for pictures (something she’s not terribly fond of these days!)

About Me . . .

Standard

We had such a nice time at the annual Fall Retreat last weekend! Meet some wonderful new friends and of course, enjoyed catching up with old friends. On the way home, Kim and I were sharing and trying to remember all that we learned about each of our campers. Then we got to thinking it might be nice to have a way to remember everyone’s “story” … so we decided to host a SpeedScrap for the group tonight.

The assignment: design a layout that tells the viewer About you. We gave out directions … one step at a time … every ten minutes. Those who could make it to the SS have posted their designs to the event’s photo album on our new Facebook Fan Page. Here’s my page:
